NEW CROWN
amana was responsible for the visual production of the new Crown, which was unveiled at its world premiere on July 15, 2022. As it was before the announcement, the graphic production started when it was impossible to even see the actual car. The project proceeded while maintaining confidentiality with even the use of the word "Crown" strictly prohibited.
Filming took place at ten locations in Japan, including Shizuoka, Takasaki, Osaka, and Kobe as well as the suburbs of Tokyo. Since it was not possible to install the new car on the filming site, we shot with the existing car body and made a new Crown in the post-processing using CG. We took pictures in various situations, such as on a highway surrounded by buildings, at a street corner with cobblestones, in front of a luxury inn, and in a rooftop parking lot, and as the copy of “DISCOVER YOUR CROWN” expresses, we visually expressed the image of the Crown suddenly discovered when walking in town.
It was a project with a lot of restrictions due to confidentiality, but we worked hard to perfect each frame of less than one second with a single picture, and we pursued how much we could improve the quality. For this reason, there were a number of issues that needed to be confirmed at the filming site, such as expressions and the number of cuts required for CG production, but the in-house CG creative team croobi that specialized in mobility worked well. We were able to proceed with a sense of speed by carrying out optimal communication smoothly.
